After adopting a vegetarian lifestyle in the 90’s I experimented with many different ingredients and discovered I had a flair for creating appetizing and appealing food. (New Zealand was, at that time, very backward about embracing vegetarianism).
Along with the food came the education. So becoming a vegan was a no-brainer after learning about animal welfare and the abusive lack of it in the food industry.
THEN – I discovered just how healthy a vegan way of eating could be and so began my journey into whole plant foods because I wanted to go into my senior years vibrant and beautiful without succumbing to the “old age” illnesses and diseases and ending up on medication.
That pretty much sums it up. One thing I’ll add is that my happiness comes from writing and helping others to step into a healthy vegan lifestyle.
And … It is always such a delight to see the look on your face or get your email when you discover how tasty and easy animal free food is.
Oh, and why the sketches? Animal suffering is not something that is widely shown in vivid bright colours. The same applies to our environment. So the sketching represents the shadowy world of animal abuse and our planet’s suffering, and the little bit of colour is for those who try to do something to alleviate it e.g. go plant based – recycle – not buy new animal skin products etc.
